“Estrés docente y estrategias de afrontamiento en profesores de la universidad técnica de Ambato”

El presente estudio tiene como objetivo determinar la relación entre el estrés docente y las estrategias de afrontamiento que utilizan los profesores de la Universidad Técnica de Ambato, con una muestra de 72 docentes de ambos sexos de las seis carreras que conforman la Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, quienes fueron evaluados mediante la Escala de Estrés docente ED-6 y el Inventario de Estrategias de Afrontamiento – CSI. Para el análisis de datos se emplea la prueba estadística de R de Pearson utilizando el programa Spss, en el cual se evidencian cuatro correlaciones estadísticamente significativas en: resolución de problemas, apoyo social, retirada social y restructuración cognitiva. De este modo se constata que existe correlación entre el estrés docente y las cuatro estrategias de afrontamiento señaladas. Asimismo, se identifica la prevalencia del nivel bajo de estrés en más de la mitad de los maestros. La estrategia de afrontamiento más empleada es la de expresión emocional.
The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between teaching stress and coping strategies used by professors from the Technical University of Ambato, with a sample of 72 teachers of both sexes from the six careers that make up the Faculty of Health Sciences, who were evaluated through the ED-6 Teacher Stress Scale and the Coping Strategies Inventory - CSI. The statistical analysis of Pearson's R using the Spss program is used to analyze the data, which shows four statistically significant correlations in: problem solving, social support, social withdrawal and cognitive restructuring. In this way it is found that there is a correlation between teaching stress and the four coping strategies indicated. Likewise, the prevalence of low stress level is identified in more than half of teachers. The most commonly used coping strategy is that of emotional expression.
