Sammanfattning: | The objective of the research was to evaluate the influence of the natural coagulants Moringa oleífera and Cassia fistula L., in the removal of nitrogen (nitrites) and phosphorus (phosphates) in domestic wastewater. Previously, domestic wastewater from Calceta city was characterized, obtaining average values of nitrites and phosphates of 0.078 mg/l and 14.95 mg/l, respectively; apart from these parameters, pH, temperature, total solids, turbidity and conductivity were also considered. When adding the natural coagulants, the destabilization of the colloidal particles and the subsequent formation of flocs were observed, demonstrating the coagulant characteristics of Moringa oleifera and Cassia fistula L. After the treatment of the domestic wastewater, it was analyzed again, obtaining average values in all the parameters and for each treatment. In T1 the average values were for nitrites of 0.070 mg/l and phosphates 6.20 mg/l. Then, based on the results of percentage removal of nitrites and phosphates, T1 - A1(500 mg/l) B1(500 mg/l) was obtained as the best treatment, where half concentrations were used for each natural coagulant, which obtained an average removal value of 10.3% for nitrites and 58.5% phosphates; this result was confirmed statistically by means of ANOVA analysis and Tukey's test. Finally, it was determined that to produce 20 L of the biocoagulant mixture, $62.70 is required as total production cost, whose volume would serve to treat 1 m3 of domestic wastewater, which is high compared to other coagulants of synthetic origin, such as aluminum sulfate. |
