In the first stage, relevant theoretical foundations for the diagnosis were identified through a literature review. In the second stage, an interview with the dean was conducted, along with surveys of the faculty. In the third stage, an improvement plan was proposed, with strategies and solutions to mitigate the identified issues. The study revealed significant problems related to cognitive demands and task complexity; 50% of the surveyed teachers indicated that the complexity of the information they use for their work is very high. Additionally, they reported memorizing a large amount of information and material to carry out their tasks. It is concluded that the institution must implement preventive measures to address these psychosocial risks, which negatively impact both family and work life. This research provides a valuable contribution to the university community. Furthermore, an improvement plan was developed and presented to all faculty members, explaining the level of cognitive risks and the recommended preventive measures. These actions are essential to promoting a healthy and sustainable academic environment. The effective implementation of these measures will significantly contribute to the overall well-being of the educational community. |

The effective implementation of these measures will significantly contribute to the overall well-being of the educational community.El propósito de esta investigación fue determinar la carga mental en los docentes de la Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabí extensión Bahía de Caráquez para el mejoramiento del desempeño laboral. Se utilizaron metodologías y técnicas que permitieron llegar al objeto de estudio el cual se dividió en tres etapas. En la primera se identificaron los fundamentos teóricos relevantes para el diagnóstico mediante revisión bibliográfica. En la segunda etapa se incluyó entrevista al decano, así como encuestas al profesorado. En la tercera etapa se propuso un plan de mejora con estrategias y soluciones para disminuir la problemática planteada. Durante el estudio se identificaron problemas significativos relacionados con las demandas cognitivas y complejidad de la tarea, el 50% de los docentes encuestados indicó que el grado de complejidad de la información que utilizan para realizar su trabajo es muy alto; asimismo, indicaron memorizar una gran cantidad de información y material para llevar a cabo sus tareas laborales. Se concluye que la institución debe implementar medidas preventivas para abordar estos riesgos psicosociales que impactan negativamente en la vida familiar y laboral de los individuos. Esta indagación ofrece un aporte valioso a la comunidad universitaria. Además, se elaboró un plan de mejora que fue presentado a todos los catedráticos, explicando el nivel de los riesgos cognitivos y las medidas preventivas recomendadas. Estas acciones son fundamentales para promover un entorno académico saludable y sostenible.
