Incidencia del manejo inadecuado de residuos sólidos en la calidad ambiental (agua-suelo) de la comunidad Matapalo del cantón Tosagua

The objective of this research was to evaluate the incidence of inadequate management of solid waste on the environmental quality (soil - water) of the Matapalo Community of Tosagua Canton. The methods used in the research were the Inductive and Quantitative-Qualitative. The main techniques used were questions and sampling questionnaires. A total population of 441 people was studied, depending on the heads of household of the community (118 in total). The first phase consisted of making field visits to the place of study, gathering information through social instruments to the local inhabitants, Geo referencing the study area, and characterizing the SRs of the community. The second phase consisted of the identification of the environmental aspects and impacts associated with the water and soil resource due to the inadequate management of RS. Finally, an environmental action plans were developed for the community to study the management of RS. It was found that the CFP of the community is 0.97 Kg / inhabitant / day; higher figure compared to similar studies; which indicates that the inhabitants consume a high resource rate. In addition, indiscriminate dumping, inadequate treatment and poor recovery of organic fractions in community areas have caused adverse effects on the ecology, environment and human health. It is concluded that the sustained discharge of solid waste without treatment has overloaded the assimilative capacity of the surrounding environment. All these drawbacks are presented as a consequence of the low socioeconomic level of the local population.
