Summary:The research aimed to evaluate the relationship between the level of Environmental Education (EA) of children with the perception of the environment quality at "Francisco González" school. It was developed in three stages: 1) Weighting the level of Environmental Education; 2) Determine the perception with the Quality of the school environment; and 3) Develop an Environmental Education program, with emphasis on solid waste management, aimed at children. The qualitative, quantitative and interrogative methods were applied in the three phases, during 9 months from January to September 2019. The first phase included: recognition, diagnosis, testing of the children of the school and analysis of the same. The second phase allowed: the application of an observation sheet on the quality of the school environment and hypothesis verification. Finally, in the third phase the EA program was designed. In ten out of fifteen topics assessed on environmental aspects, a high level of Well's responses was obtained, from 27.6 to 84.2%; although, in reality, the quality was not optimal (very bad and neither good nor bad). The hypothesis is accepted with a level of confidence of 95% where the level of environmental education is positively related to the perception of the quality of the school environment. It is demonstrated that although the majority of aspects associated with school environments were not of optimum quality, the participants stated under their perceptions that they were.
