Ամփոփում:The objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of tuberculosis (Mycobacterium spp) in cattle in El Carmen canton, where 200 animals were sampled from the parishes of La Manga del Cura and San Pedro de Suma. To evaluate the existence of Mycobacterium spp, a preliminary intradermal tuberculin test (IDTBS) was applied with a dose of 0.1 ml (5000 IU or 1 mg/ml) of tuberculin (CZV Tuberculin PPD Bovine), where nine suspected positive cases (4.5%) were determined. These animals pre-catalogued as positive suspects were re-inoculated with bovine PPD and avian PPD after 90 days, in order to check the prevalence of Mycobacterium spp. Five positive cases were obtained from this test, representing a prevalence of 2.5% (5/200). Regarding the analysis of the positive cases with other variables such as place of origin, the positive cases have a greater presence in cattle born on the same farms, while in purchased cattle there is a lower percentage of positive cases. Regarding age, these positive cases are found above 24 months of age, which classifies them as cows in production. On the other hand, the body condition present in these positive cases was 2.5 (2 positive cases) and 3 (3 positive cases). In terms of good hygiene practices, 25% of the farms maintain good hygiene practices and 75% do not. On the other hand, 17% of the farms attended livestock fairs, while 83% did not go out with their animals.
