| description | The aim of the research was to evaluate the efficacy of amendments on the growth and yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) seedlings in saline-prone soil. The treatments consisted of three doses of gypsum- GY (14, 28 and 42 g per pot) and three doses of compost - CP (14, 28 and 42 g per pot). The main variables recorded were plant dry weight, leaf area and grain yield. The data obtained were analyzed through ANOVA, orthogonal contrasts and the separation of means was carried out with the Tukey test (α = 0.05). The analysis of variance did not report significant statistical differences (p>0.05) for the GY x CP interaction in all the analyzed variables. For the main effects of GY dose and CP level, statistically significant differences were reported (p<0.05) in all the variables evaluated. In addition, significant statistical differences (p<0.05) were reported for the orthogonal contrasts between the mean of GY+CP vs. the control treatment. With the doses of 28 g of GY and 28 g of CP, the highest growth and yield of the peanut was achieved. It is concluded that under the soil conditions where the experiment was developed, combining the average doses of agricultural gypsum and compost evaluated is an alternative to promote the growth and yield of peanuts |

El experimento se desarrolló bajo condiciones de umbráculo en el campus politécnico de la ESPAM MFL. Los tratamientos consistieron de tres dosis de yeso agrícola - YA (14, 28 y 42 g por maceta) y tres dosis de compost - CP (14, 28 y 42 g por maceta). Las principales variables registradas fueron peso seco de planta, área foliar y rendimiento de grano. Los datos obtenidos fueron analizados a través del ANOVA, contrastes ortogonales y la separación de medias se efectuó con prueba de Tukey (α = 0.05). El análisis de varianza no reportó diferencias estadísticas significativas (p>0.05) para la interacción YA x CP en todas las variables analizadas. Para los efectos principales dosis de YA y dosis CP, si se reportó diferencias estadísticas significativas (p<0.05) en todas las variables evaluadas. Además, se reportó diferencias estadísticas significativas (p<0.05) para los contrates ortogonales entre el promedio de YA+CP vs el tratamiento control. Con las dosis de 28 g de YA y 28 g de CP se logró el mayor crecimiento y rendimiento del maní.
