Descripció
Sumari:The purpose of this research was to evaluate the tourism potential of the canton of Montecristi to promote the development of cultural tourism. For this purpose, three phases were proposed, starting with the situational tourism diagnosis where it was determined through literature and documentary review that tourism is not one of the main economic activities of the canton despite its natural, cultural and heritage wealth, which was established as the main strength through the strategic SWOT and as the main motivational factor for visiting the destination according to the results of the application of surveys to demand, showing a waste of potential in cultural tourism which is constituted as its greatest weakness. The second phase involved the evaluation of the cultural tourism potentialities supported by the MINTUR inventory sheets; in which it was possible to reaffirm the cultural potential of the territory and specified that aspects related to the improvement of products, services and facilities as well as promotion and governance should be worked on. Finally, in the third and last phase, based on the weighted SWOT, five offensive strategies were drawn up to promote the canton as a cultural destination, product development, promotion and marketing, governance and improvement of the quality of services, based on which a strategic program was designed consisting of 12 programs with 31 projects respectively, supported by a monitoring sheet to influence the development of cultural tourism.
