It was shown that the destination does not have a post-COVID-19 economic reactivation plan, being a limitation for the recovery of the various sectors, especially tourism, with strong effects on the accommodation area, a survey was applied on innovation in the tourism plant (accommodation, catering and transport) through which it is shortened that companies have difficulties in adopting new technologies. Based on the deficiencies found, 38 indicators adjusted to the reality of the territory and associated with the sectors that are involved in its management (academy, business and civil society) were identified. From this research, it can be concluded that the Portoviejo destination has the potential to achieve tourism development, however, it requires adequate management of innovation to become a competitive destination. |

Se realizó una caracterización del área de estudio en relación a la innovación turística, seguida de una evaluación de los impactos causados por la pandemia, y la elaboración de los indicadores para la evaluación de la innovación turística. Se observó que el destino no cuenta con un plan de reactivación económica post- COVID-19, siendo un limitante para la recuperación de los diversos sectores especialmente del turismo, con fuertes afectaciones en el área de alojamiento, se aplicó una encuesta sobre la innovación en la planta turística (alojamiento, restauración y transporte) a través de la cual se determinó que las empresas tienen dificultades para la adopción de nuevas tecnologías. A partir de las deficiencias encontradas, se identificaron 38 indicadores ajustados a la realidad del territorio y asociados a los sectores que se involucran en su gestión (academia, empresa y sociedad civil).
