Riassunto:The present work was carried out in the urban perimeter of Calceta city-Manabí, its objective is to determine the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in domestic cats and its risk factors in the surrounding animal population. A random sampling of the number of cats was carried out by conducting a survey of their owners and blood samples were taken from 125 cats, which were subjected to blood analysis by immunochromatography to diagnose the presence of Toxoplasmosis gondii. The study variables were: sex, age and diet. Based on the results obtained in the investigation, a prevalence of positive cases of Toxoplasmosis gondii is 15.2%. According to the 125 infected cats: by sex 8.8% are male and 6.4% female. In the age variable, 3.2% is equivalent to the range between 1-6 months of age, 4.8% from 6 months-1 year, and 7.2% to those older than 1 year. The results for non-conventional feeding presented 9.6%, while the balanced supplement corresponds to 5.6%. It is concluded that the risk factor that most relates to the prevalence of toxoplasmosis gondii is unconventional feeding.
