| Shrnutí: | The objective of this research was to evaluate the influence of hatch window management on the viability and quality of Cobb 500 chicks. For this purpose, 160 newly hatched COBB 500 chicks were used, divided into four treatments consisting of different incubation times (T1 = 486, T2 = 492, T3 = 498, and T4 = 504 hours) with an equal number of repetitions, totaling 16 experimental units, under a completely randomized design with an alpha value of 5%. The variables analyzed were: weight gain, organ weight, yolk sac absorption, and microbiological quality. The results showed significant differences (p<0.03) in yolk sac weight on day 5, with T1 having a lower weight than T4, although it did not differ from T2 and T3. On days 1, 3, and 7, there were no differences, but T1 consistently had the lowest yolk sac weight. Regarding organ weight, chicks from T4 showed significantly higher organ weights. Microbiological results showed differences, with E. coli present in T3 and T4, indicating a higher risk of colonization by this pathogen. Salmonella was absent in all treatments. As for molds, different species were identified: Fusarium spp., Mucor spp., and Penicillium spp. for T1 and T2, Aspergillus spp. in T3, while T4 had Penicillium spp. and Aspergillus spp. It was concluded that the hatch window influences chick quality, with those that hatch earlier and are removed from the hatchery sooner showing greater viability and better microbiological quality, although they have lower organ weights. |
