Summary:The present investigation was based on the design and implementation of a drip irrigation system for cucumber crop at the conventional area located at the agricultural polytechnic school of manabí espam mfl. after made the estimates of hydraulic design for optimum system operation and the agronomic design to meet water requirements of the cucumber crop, the following results were obtained. for the agronomic design were considered weather conditions by averaging the crop water needs and the readily available supply of water for cucumber crop determining that irrigation intervals are of two days and irrigation time id one hour; on the hydraulic part the flow required for a lateral or dropper´s holder is 236.25 liters / hour and the required pressure is 14.22 psi.8. the flow required for tertiary lateral portal lateral is 13230.0 liters / hour and the commercial diameter of the pipe is 47.35 mm, the appropriate pressure used in this module is 16.92 psi.; the calculated diameter for the transmission line for the irrigation system is 50 mm, but this a pipeline will supply another drip irrigation system with similar characteristics, it was installed a pipe of 63 mm that was chosen by calculations previously made. the costs involved in designing and implementing the irrigation system were $ 2080 which was distributed as follows. materials $ 1810, workforce $ 150 and unexpected costs $ 120.
