الملخص:The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of the use of activated carbon from rice husks and its application dose in bleaching hybrid palm oil (Elaeis Oleífera x Elaeis Guineensis). A completely randomized experimental design (DCA) was applied with AxB factorial arrangement with four replications per treatment, the experimental unit was 100 g of pretreated hybrid palm oil, the studied factors were: factor A the type of activated carbon; activated carbon with phosphoric acid (CAAF), physically activated carbon (CAF) and activated carbon with citric acid (CAAC), factor B is the percentage of activated carbon in weight 1 and 2%, the response variable was concentration of total carotenes in ppm and efficiency in pigment removal. An analysis of variance was used at 5% significance. The results showed that the type of activated carbon p-value <0.05 had an influence on the bleaching of the oil, obtaining CAAF 2% as the best treatment with a total carotene removal percentage of 32.25%. It is concluded that the activated carbon CAAF represents an important alternative in the removal of pigments in the bleaching of hybrid palm oil.
