Description
Summary:The objective of this research was to evaluate an Aerated Constructed Wetland with Chrysopogon zizanioides (Vetiver grass) and a microbial consortium in the wastewater of a tuna industry. The microorganisms used were Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Trichoderma harzianum. The treatments were distributed as follows: P1 (C. zizanioides), P1M1 (C. zizanioides + S. cerevisiae), P1M2 (C. zizanioides + T. harzianum) and P1M1M2 (C. zizanioides + S.cerevisiae + T. harzianum). The dose for all treatments was 1.5 ml/l and the concentration of the microorganisms 1,95X108 cfu/ml for T. harzianum and 4,3x108 cfu/ml for S. cerevisiae. Aeration was 3l/min and remained constant for 21 days of treatment. P1M1 and P1M1M2 obtained the highest removal efficiencies for Total Nitrogen Kjeldahl 72.8% and 72.79% respectively. All treatments had a BOD removal greater than 99%. No removal of Total Phosphorus was obtained in any treatment. The pH of all treatments was between 6,1-6,3. P1M1 and P1M1M2 had the lowest number of vetiver grass deaths (2 and 2,67 respectively). According to the cost/benefit analysis, the P1M1 treatment is the most viable and its cost is 6,65 USSD.
