Özet:The objective was to evaluate the inbreeding and relationship coefficients in Nelore bulls marketed by catalog in Ecuador between 2017 and 2022. A total of 39 bulls were analyzed, supplemented with 1868 data points from their offspring. Using the software PedigreeViewer and Endogv4.8, the pedigree of the animals under study was constructed, and a linear regression analysis was performed using InfoStat software to evaluate the trend of breeding values based on the level of inbreeding. The average inbreeding coefficient of the animals under study was 2.03% (±2.14), and the average relationship coefficient was 1.35% (±0.18), with an annual inbreeding increase of 0.015%. Positive relationships were observed in age at first calving (0.27 days), scrotal circumference at 450 days (0.07 cm), and carcass finish (0.84). Additionally, negative relationships were observed in birth weight (-0.032 kg), weaning weight (-0.13 kg), yearling weight (-0.45 kg), post-yearling weight (-0.64 kg), maternal stage weight (-0.11 kg), total maternal weaning weight (-0.24 kg), marbling (-0.03), scrotal circumference at 365 days (-0.23), precocity (-0.007), ribeye area (-0.50), body structure (-0.19), musculature (-0.03), and longevity (-1.29). The need to improve mating plans is highlighted as inbreeding affects animal performance.
