Summary:The investigation was carried out with the purpose of analyzing the soft skills of the public servants of the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Government in Tosagua canton to determine their influence on work performance, for which three stages were developed that correspond to each of the objectives. specific to the study: in the first instance, the current state of the transversal competences of the employees was established, for which a bibliographical review of the dimensions that include the research variables was started, then a Likert-type structured survey was elaborated and It was validated through the Content Validity Coefficient, then it was provided to the staff and the results were analyzed, previously calculating its reliability through Cronbach's Alpha; the second stage allowed the establishment of the existing influence between the variables and their dimensions using the Pearson Test; Subsequently, in the third phase, an improvement proposal was developed using the 5W+1H planning matrix, to solve the weaknesses pointed out in the Ishikawa Diagram. The results showed significant and positive correlations between the variables studied, which reaffirms the importance of recognizing soft skills as a determining factor of job performance in the context of public servants. In conclusion, this study validates the relevance of strengthening these skills as part of human resource management strategies in the public sphere, which consequently generates benefits for the user.
