Efecto de la longitud del pollito BB al nacimiento en la planta de incubación de la ESPAM-MFL con indicadores productivos

The research was carried out in the area of sheds of the ESPAMMFL and its objective was to test the effectiveness of the chick bb length as a determinant protocol for the quality of the chicks produced in the Unit of Teaching, Research and Linkage Incubation Plant the ESPAM - MFL. For this investigation, reference was made to studies that relate the variation between groups of chicks with different lengths and weight gain at the end of their fattening stage, suggesting that for each centimeter of difference each chicken gains 264 grams. A completely randomized design was used with four treatments, each treatment with three replications, which totaled twelve experimental units, and each one was made up of 25 baby chickens from the Cobb 500 line. The variables measured were: weight gain, feed intake, feed conversion, productive index, adjusted conversion, mortality, body mass and final weight of the chicken at 42 days. Statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference between treatments, however, treatment three (T3), which consisted of the chicks of greater body length, obtained 2788.36 g at the end of their fattening stage, obtaining 113.4 g more than The control treatment was also maintained on the standard and on the other treatments in all parameters to be measured with a production cost of $ 0.05 per pound over the control group.
