A unifactorial completely randomized block design (DBCA) with 5 repetitions was used. For the statistical analysis, the coefficient of variation was determined for all variables and expressed as a percentage; in addition, Tukey's test of means was used at 0.05% error probability, showing significant differences in the variables, number of fruits per plant, thickness of rind and diameter of fruits; which shows that there was significant influence of the treatments and that it was T3 that obtained the best results. With respect to the other variables under study, these did not present significant differences between the control and the other treatments. It is concluded that the best method for the productive optimization of this crop is the one corresponding to T3 (artificial pollination and unprotected pistil), which presented the highest results in the variables mentioned above, compared with the control and other treatments. |

It is concluded that the best method for the productive optimization of this crop is the one corresponding to T3 (artificial pollination and unprotected pistil), which presented the highest results in the variables mentioned above, compared with the control and other treatments.La presente investigación se realizó en el área de cultivos convencionales de la Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí, Manuel Félix López en el periodo Agosto – Diciembre del 2017, en un área total de 2048 m2 con el objetivo de optimizar la productividad del cultivo de zapallo (Cucúrbita máxima) a través de la polinización artificial, teniendo como factor en estudio los métodos de polinización: polinización artificial protegiendo el pistilo con fundas de papel, polinización artificial protegiendo el pistilo con ligadura de corola, polinización artificial con pistilo no protegido y polinización natural o testigo. Se utilizó un diseño unifactorial de bloques completamente al azar (DBCA) con 5 repeticiones. Para el análisis estadístico, se determinó el coeficiente de variación a todas las variables y se expresó en porcentaje; además se utilizó la prueba de comprobación de medias de Tukey al 0,05% de probabilidad de error, presentando diferencias significativas en las variables, número de frutos por planta, grosor de cáscara y diámetro de frutos; lo que demuestra que si hubo influencia significativa de los tratamientos y que fue el T3 el que obtuvo los mejores resultados. Con respecto a las otras variables en estudio, estas no presentaron diferencias significativas entre el testigo y los demás tratamientos.
