Fortalecimiento de capacidades locales mediante una estrategia de educación ambiental en la comunidad la Esperanza

The research focused on evaluating the strengthening of local capacities through an environmental education strategy in the La Esperanza community. A survey was conducted on 15 inhabitants, revealing that the initial performance level was 47% (average rating of 14/20). To address this situation, a training plan was implemented that included dialogues and practical workshops, in addition to the creation of a nursery for forest species such as Guasmo, moral fine and rubber. After the training, a second survey was administered that showed a notable increase in the level of performance, where 80% of the participants achieved a score of 20, indicating a high level of knowledge. Statistical analysis using Student's T test yielded a T value of 3.73, which indicates that the mean of the final performance level is significantly higher than that of the initial level. The p- value of 0.0013, which is lower than the significance threshold of 0.05, reinforces the effectiveness of the educational strategy implemented. These results demonstrate that the intervention not only improved the environmental knowledge of the inhabitants, but also contributed to the development of local capacities for reforestation. It is concluded that the implementation of environmental education strategies is effective in strengthening local capacities, significantly improving the level of knowledge and environmental awareness of its inhabitants. This comprehensive approach not only benefits reforestation, but also promotes a deeper commitment to the conservation of the natural environment.
