Summary:The use of substrates and biostimulants are efficient alternatives to promote better growth and seedling quality. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of substrates enriched with amendments and biostimulants on the growth and quality of plantain seedlings. The treatments evaluated were four plant growth substrates (biochar, algae extract, humates and diatomaceous earth) and two biostimulants (biochemical and biological), plus a control treatment. A DCA design with nine treatments, three replicates and 27 experimental units was used. The main variables recorded were root biomass length (LBR), leaf area (AF) and plant bone weight (PSP). The results reported significant statistical differences (p<0.05) for the interaction of substrates x biostimulants, where the treatment based on diatomaceous earth + biochemical biostimulants (TD+BB) achieved the highest LBR, AF and PSP, with, 20 cm, 1992.18 cm2 and 25.90 g, respectively, in relation to the other treatments. It is concluded that the combination of diatomaceous earth as part of the substrate and the application of biostimulants of biochemical origin are good alternatives to enhance the growth of plantain seedlings in the nursery.
