Evaluación de pérdidas poscosecha de naranja (Citrus sinensis) producidas en la parroquia Membrillo y comercializadas en el mercado del cantón Bolívar.

This is an exploratory research that is based on determining the physical and economic losses of the postharvest of oranges (Citrus sinensis) harvested in the Membrillo parish and marketed in the central market of the Bolivar canton. Harvesting period to 10% of the orange-producing farms in the Membrillo parish. Surveys were then applied to producers, intermediaries, transporters and retailers in the same area, determining that agronomic and social factors are the main cause of physical loss of Fruit; Throughout the investigation different percentages of losses were identified: producers 12.56% of physical losses; Intermediaries with 16.56% reaching an economic valuation of $ 26,788.32; transportation stacked with 32.12% reported a loss of $ 32,636, transportation in drawers 10.85% of unrecoverable loss reporting an economic loss of $ 18,594.00 and traders with 3.88% produce $ 734.45 of losses. The quality of the orange according to the analyzes ºBrix, acidity and pH do not differ from the requirements of the technical regulation of the orange, thus imperiously indicating that more losses are produced in the stage of the transport in a stacked way by the bad stowed, recommending as Mitigating potential to this problem the implantation of a collection center in the path Membrillo - Bolivar.
