Özet:The nocturnal raptors are important in the structure and dynamics of the ecological communities due to their function as top predators in the trophic chains, making the White Owl an ideal biological control of pests such as rodents, regulating the population growth of them. The objective of this research was to demonstrate the potential of the White Owl (Tyto furcata) as a biological control in the polytechnic campus of the ESPAM “MFL” and its surroundings, the location of the owl's nests was identified, the diet was determined, and the potential of the owl was analyzed to subsequently socialize the results on the importance of this bird. The collection method of pellets was used, finding 30 pellets, which were analyzed by the dry method. The average biometric characteristics of the pellets were 4.53 cm long, 2.92 cm wide, and 3.99 g in weight. In the collected pellets, a total of 65 skulls were registered, of which 87.7% corresponds to the Rodentia order, 10.8% to Chiroptera and 1.5% to Columbiformes. It was determined that the main food source of the Tyto furcata are rodents with an approximate of 2 daily, 60 per month and 730 per year and 1460 rodents per year if a pair of Tyto furcata is considered. The simple regression analysis projected a close relationship between the length and weight of the pellets. The infographic obtained a public audience of 558 and 27 diffusions by third parties.
