סיכום:Brucella spp. constitutes a persistent zoonotic threat in extensive systems with limited sanitary control. This study was conducted in the Bolívar canton, Manabí province, aiming to evaluate the epidemiological prevalence of Brucella spp. in cattle. A total of 256 animals from 14 farms were analyzed using the Rose Bengal and ELISA serological tests to confirm positive cases. Additionally, structured surveys were applied to identify risk factors, and Fisher’s exact test was used to assess statistically significant associations. The results revealed a prevalence of 1.17%, with three seropositive cattle in two farms. It was observed that most farms lacked vaccination (71.4%), isolation of pregnant females (71.4%), and formal zootechnical records (85.7%). Statistical analysis showed a significant association between the absence of vaccination and the presence of positive cases (p = 0.048). It is concluded that Brucella spp. circulates silently in the evaluated herds, making the implementation of systematic vaccination essential to effectively control the disease.
