| Summary: | The use of intercropping production systems and more environmentally friendly fertilization methods are technologies being promoted to achieve more sustainable agriculture. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of fertilization and biostimulation on the yield and profitability of the cassava-peanut production system. The treatments evaluated were: Cassava-peanut with chemical fertilization (T1), cassava-peanut with biofertilization (T2), cassava-peanut with biostimulation (T3), cassava-peanut with chemical fertilization + biostimulation (T4), cassava-peanut with biofertilization + biostimulation (T5), cassava-peanut without fertilization (T6), cassava monoculture (T7), and peanut monoculture (T8). A randomized complete block design was used with eight treatments, three replicates, and 24 experimental units. The main variables recorded were yield and economic profitability. The results showed statistically significant differences in yield (p < 0.05), with monocultures of peanut and cassava individually outperforming the intercropped system. However, from an economic standpoint, all cassava-peanut intercropping treatments outperformed the monocultures regardless of the type of fertilization used. Notably, the cassava-peanut system without any fertilization was economically superior to the fertilized cassava and peanut monocultures. Treatments involving chemical fertilization and biofertilization combined with biostimulation showed similar results, indicating that it is feasible to recommend the cassava-peanut production system using biofertilizers and biostimulants. |
