| Тойм: | The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of tuberculosis (Mycobacterium spp) in cattle herds in Canuto parish. For its accomplishment, a non-experimental field study was deployed in which 240 animals belonging to 40 cattle herds of the study area were considered for diagnosis. The confirmation of the infection was done through the Purified Protein Derivative of tuberculin (PPD) test applied in the neck board of the bovine, which was repeated after 45 days for confirmation of suspected and positive cases, in addition, descriptive statistical techniques were applied to determine the prevalence rates. Initial results showed a prevalence of 0.40%, with one reactive animal and 1.3% of suspect cases. The positive cases were distributed in 100% in female cattle, these animals maintained an average age of 4 to 5 years with a borderline body condition (2). The re-inoculation process was not achieved, since the initially suspicious and positive cattle were sold and in other instances the producers refused to re-evaluate the animal. According to the data analyzed, a low prevalence of tuberculosis has been confirmed in the study area, despite this, it is suggested to carry out additional studies in a larger sample to accurately determine the real prevalence rate in the study area. |
