Educación ambiental para acciones climáticas afirmativas en estudiantado de la carrera de Turismo, ESPAM MFL

The research aimed to evaluate environmental awareness for affirmative climate actions among Tourism students at ESPAM MFL. The "Learning-by-Doing" method was used, along with techniques such as questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and participant observation, organized into three phases. In the first phase, the level of environmental awareness and ecological behavior among students was diagnosed. In the second phase, an intervention program focused on developing environmental awareness was implemented, while in the third phase, environmental awareness was compared with ecological behavior. The results revealed that 50% of men and 45% of women considered affirmative climate actions essential. However, 55% of women were neutral about carbon footprint, while 50% of men disagreed. The implementation of the "Learning-by-Doing" workshop demonstrated significant progress, with 82% of participants interested in practical activities such as cleaning the park of the bridges in San Bartolo, Calceta. Additionally, 64% of students fully committed to sustainable practices, highlighting greater female participation. The strategy significantly increased knowledge and commitment to affirmative climate actions, but gender differences persist in participation and understanding, suggesting the need for adjustments to ensure equity in environmental learning. It is concluded that environmental education is crucial for fostering active and committed awareness among students, contributing to forming more environmentally responsible tourism professionals.
