| description | The present study aimed to characterize the physical and organoleptic properties of five elite clones of Coffea canephora (robusta coffee) cultivated in Bolívar Canton, Manabí. A completely randomized block design and Tukey’s mean test (p>0.05) were employed to evaluate agronomic, productive, physical, and sensory quality variables. Significant differences were observed among the materials. None of the clones exceeded 3 m in height, which facilitates their agronomic management in the area. The clone SICA 03 showed the highest weight of 100 fruits, while SICA 02, COF 01, and LG02 recorded percentages of defective grains below the negative quality threshold (8–12%). Regarding physical defects, most were secondary defects that do not affect beverage quality. All clones achieved scores above 70 in cup sensory evaluation, highlighting NP 3056 with 83.5 points and exotic profiles with clean cup attributes and cocoa and tobacco flavors. These results demonstrate the potential of the clones in terms of quality and productivity of robusta coffee in the region, supporting the promotion of cultivation in the study area. |

Se empleó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar y prueba de media, Tukey (p>0,05) evaluando variables agronómicas, productivas, de calidad física y sensorial. Se observaron diferencias significativas entre los materiales. Ninguno de los clones superó los 3 m de altura, lo que favorece su manejo agronómico en la zona. El clon SICA 03 presentó el mayor peso de 100 frutos, mientras que SICA 02, COF 01 y LG02 registraron porcentajes de granos vanos por debajo del umbral negativo de calidad (8–12%). En cuanto a defectos físicos se registraron en su mayoría defectos secundarios que no afectan la calidad de bebida. Todos los clones alcanzaron puntajes superiores a 70 en la evaluación sensorial de taza, destacando NP 3056 con 83,5 puntos y perfiles exóticos con atributos de taza limpia y sabores a cacao y tabaco.
