Zusammenfassung:The purpose of this work was to cytologically type the transmissible venereal tumor in positive dogs from three shelters (Chone, Tosagua and Bahía) in Manabí province. 12 dogs were selected for each of the three shelters “The Tosagua Rescue”, “The Happy Dog” and from the “Callejeritos Hostel” which totaled 36 experimental units. The Diff-Quick staining method was applied, since it allows efficient identification and differentiation of a wide variety of cytological samples. The data were processed using the Spss 24 statistical software program. The results obtained by applying the chi-square test showed that there is no significant difference (p=>de 0,805) in terms of the incidence of sex on the development of TVT. Likewise, there is no statistical significance between the reproductive status, the age group of the dogs and the manifestation of the disease studied, respectively. The most recurrent lineage of the three shelters was the plasmacytoid (58%), which is related to malignant behavior and resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs, while the lymphocytoid TVT occurred in 42% with a less aggressive pattern. Furthermore, it was confirmed that there are no different symptomatologies between the lymphocytoid and plasmacytoid lineage.
