Summary:The objective of this research was to evaluate the strengthening of local capacities through an environmental education strategy in the students of the Morales Ascázubi Educational Unit, San Antonio, Chone. The local capacities of the students of the Morales Ascázubi Educational Unit were identified. Subsequently, the environmental education strategy chosen by the students was implemented, and its influence on the strengthening of the local capacities of the students of the institution was determined. The research was carried out in Hybrid Modality "Distance-Virtual", based on the methodology proposed by UNDP (2008), which consists of five steps that allow the development of local capacities of the actors involved. The results found showed that students have little technical experience in environmental knowledge about everything related to environmental education strategies. Therefore, the environmental education strategy implemented by the students of the institution was a family garden in their homes, which with a significance level of 0.05 has a significant impact on the strengthening of local capacities of the students of the Morales Ascázubi Educational Unit because the level of knowledge of the students after the implementation of the environmental education strategy is at a "High" and "Very High" level, indicating that the students have acquired sufficient knowledge to strengthen their capacities.
