| Yhteenveto: | The objective of this research was to diagnose the presence of the nematode Toxocara canis and the cestode Dipylidium caninum in dogs in the sector of Los Ceibos 2 in Calceta city, Bolívar, Manabí province. Descriptive statistics and chi-square were applied with the statistical package InfoStat 2020. The variable considered was animal welfare. Significant difference (P>0.05) was found in relation to frequency of deworming with 38.95% deworming every six months, 24.21% every year, 15.79% every three months and 1.05% every 2 years. On the variable of veterinary attendance, 57.89% take their pets to the vet once in a while, with this being the outstanding figure, 26.32% never, 8.42% half-yearly, 4.21% quarterly and 3.16% yearly. In relation to sex, males represent 52.63% and females 47.37%; the predominant breeds are mongrels with a total of 67 animals, while for the Pitbull breed 10 dogs were identified and for the French Poodle breed 5 dogs were identified; and in age, the canines stood out with a total of 23 animals in an age group of 2 years, 22 of 1 year, 18 of 3 years, 9 of 4 years, in which these variables did not have a significant difference (P<0.05) respectively. It is concluded that age, breed, and sex have no effect on the presence of Toxocara canis and Dipylidium caninum in dogs in the Ceibos 2 sector. |
