| Čoahkkáigeassu: | This research aimed to evaluate the occupational health and safety plan in the Ureta commercial establishment in the Tosagua canton, with the goal of mitigating occupational risks. Employing a mixed descriptive approach, strengths and weaknesses of the establishment's compliance with Ecuadorian occupational health and safety regulations were identified. Inductive, field, and analytical methods, along with tools like surveys, semi-structured interviews, 5W+1H matrices, IPER matrices, and the Ishikawa diagram were used to gather data. The results highlighted areas for improvement in regulatory compliance and occupational risks across various positions. Reviewing the Internal Regulations for Safety and Occupational Health revealed these areas. Phase II focused on designing and validating questionnaires for interviews and surveys using the Delphi method. It was confirmed that the company lacks proper training and communication regarding occupational risks, as well as secure infrastructure. Deficiencies in tools, materials, and specific risks for workers were also identified. Policies and organizational culture were found to be insufficient in terms of occupational safety. Based on these findings, an improvement plan was proposed to address these shortcomings. Implementing this plan is expected to manage occupational risks, promote a safe and healthy work environment, and enhance the reputation and competitiveness of the Ureta commercial establishment. Continuous monitoring of the plan is crucial to ensure and enhance occupational health and safety in the future. |
