| Sumario: | The purpose of this research was to evaluate the strengthening of local capacities through an environmental education strategy in students of the Remigio Crespo Toral Mixed Fiscal School, Sucre-Manabí. Research methods such as bibliographic and descriptive research and techniques such as interviews and surveys were used, in addition to workshops, talks and environmental cinema developed for the 188 actors involved. The results determined that, in an initial diagnosis, 59% of those surveyed had not seen a sea turtle, 79% were not aware that these species are in danger of extinction and 70% had not received any type of training. Regarding the implemented strategy, it reached a high level of acceptance, indicating that activity 3 corresponding to environmental cinema reached 100% excellence in motivation and response capacity, while 85% in attention, followed by the talks (67%) and workshops (77%). For its part, the applied strategy had a considerable level of knowledge, determining that 100% of the students recognized the importance of sea turtle conservation. The Chi Square, Cramer and Pearson statistical tests showed high levels of significance in relation to the variables studied, so it is concluded that the strategy for strengthening capacities at the Crespo Toral Mixed Fiscal School positively influenced the knowledge of the students, therefore, the idea to be defended raised in this research work is accepted. |
