Čoahkkáigeassu:Canine brucellosis is a zoonotic disease resulting from the lodging of bacteria in fluids and abortive remains of dogs with the possibility of transmission through contact with humans, hence it becomes a serious problem not only for owners of these animals but for public health in general. In this sense, the purpose of this research is to determine the prevalence of smooth-type brucella in dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) in the herds in Bolívar canton and its risk factors. For this purpose, a mixed research methodology was used in which bibliographic review techniques and field work were integrated through the application of serological diagnostic tests Cart Test and slow agglutination serum in SAT tube. The results show that despite the existence of risk factors such as the lack of complete vaccination schemes or contact with other animals, the prevalence is low, so the hypothesis is rejected; it is concluded that within the cattle ranches in Bolívar canton the presence of smooth Brucella in dogs is reduced in that it represents 7 % of the total population, however, it is necessary to continue with epidemiological surveillance as it is even a public health problem.
