A completely randomized block design was used, with a bifactorial treatment arrangement, to study the variables: agglutination, motility and pH, as well as the presence and quantity of bacterial colonies in the semen. No statistical differences were found for the agglutination and motility variables, whose averages were found within the normal range. Neither in the amount of colony forming units (9.6X106 and 1.1X107 cfu / ml) for fresh and diluted semen respectively. However, they exceeded the established normal ranges. The presence of E. coli was determined in 11 (51.0%) of the 20 samples analyzed. The variable pH reported statistical differences (P <0.01) between the types of semen evaluated and the averages obtained were 9 and 8.55 for the fresh and diluted semen respectively. The correlation between the agglutination and the percentage of semen motility was negative, so that hygiene deficiencies are deduced during the collection and manipulation process in the laboratory, which means to maximize the biosecurity measures in the whole process. |

Se utilizó un diseño de bloques completamente al azar, con un arreglo de tratamientos bifactorial, para estudiar las variables: aglutinación, motilidad y pH, asimismo la presencia y cantidad de colonias bacterianas en el semen. No se encontraron diferencias estadísticas para las variables de aglutinación y motilidad, los promedios obtenidos se encontraron dentro del rango normal. Tampoco en la cantidad de unidades formadoras de colonias (9,6X106 y 1,1X107 ufc/ml) para semen fresco y diluido respectivamente. Sin embargo, estas sobrepasaron los rangos normales establecidos. Se determinó la presencia de E. coli en 11 (51,0%) de las 20 muestras analizadas. La variable pH reportó diferencias estadísticas (P <0,01) entre los tipos de semen evaluados y los promedios obtenidos fueron de 9 y 8,55 para el semen fresco y diluido respectivamente.
