Description
Summary:This research was realized from July 2011 to January 2012 in the experimental campus of the Agricultural Polytechnic School of Manabí "MFL", in order to study the "Influence of age on the rootstock of cocoa (Thehobroma cacao L.) over the plant grafts EET-575, EET-576 and EET-103 ". The factors studied were: age of grafting rootstock (90, 120 and 150 days) and graft materials (EET-575, EET-576 and EET-103). We used a completely randomized design (DCA) in a factorial arrangement AXB, with 4 replications and 9 treatments. At a field level, grafts were made with the materials listed above according to the treatments of 90 days after sowing (dds) of the rootstock, on 120 days and 150 days. The variables evaluated were: diameter, height and number of leaves on the rootstock 90, 120, 150 days, percentage of live grafting, 15 and 30 days, size and diameter of the graft at 30 and 45 days, leaf size on the grafts at 30 and 60 days and number of leaves at 30 days. Regarding the percentage of surviving grafts in the three variables was found that the best was 150 days after sowing with 31.25% and the best material was the EET-103 with 25% of engraftment. The experimental results were influenced by the fungal pathogen (Fusarium ssp) stimulated by the prevailing environmental conditions (temperature and relative humidity). Keywords: engraftment, graft, rootstock, temperature, relative humidity.
