Summary:The purpose of the research was to analyze the socio-economic profile of the students who enroll at Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí Manuel Félix López, one of the main socioeconomic characteristics that allowed determining the variables are income, education, employment, age, sex, provenance, among other factors associated with performance or attrition that help determine the indicators. The research was carried out in three stages: The first was the collection of socio-economic data with which students enter the ESPAM MFL degree courses. The second stage was to analyze the data obtained through the main tools, such as an interview with the directors of the eight ESPAM MFL careers to find one of the strategies that the university should apply to reduce attrition, and a survey was also applied to the sample of the investigation to know the social and economic situation of the students, for the reliability of the results obtained the statistical program SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) was used, then a SWOT analysis was performed to determine the strengths , opportunities, weaknesses and threats presented by the university. The third stage was to propose strategies that contribute to increase academic performance and thus improve the retention rate, decrease attrition and increase the degree rate in ESPAM MFL degree courses. With the shortcomings found, an improvement plan was made to identify and establish the possible change responses to the weaknesses determined in the investigation, finally the presentation of the improvement plan was made with those involved where the variables studied were taken into account.
