The objective of this study was to evaluate the productive potential and adaptability of five maize hybrids in Manabí-producing areas under rainfed conditions. It was carried out in two areas of the province of Manabí, Junín canton, Montañita enclosure, and in the 24 de Mayo canton, Los Algodones enclosure. A Complete Random Design with factorial arrangement (five hybrids and two zones) was applied. Variables of agronomic type (days to flowering, plant height and height of insertion of the cob), sanitary (damages by diseases and fungi in grains and ears) and productive (cob weight, grain weight, weight of 100 seeds and harvest index). The results allowed to identify that the hybrids obtained a different behavior in each evaluated zone, and at a productive level the Bronko-NK-284 hybrid reported the highest grain weight with 10.03 kg, in addition the highest harvest index was evidenced in Adv-9139 with the 79% This confirms that knowing the adaptability requirements of crops allows selecting regions that favor growth, development, loss reduction and increased yields, as well as preserving the genetic variability of species.
