Huertos urbanos como alternativa de seguridad alimentaria para familias del barrio San Lorenzo durante el periodo COVID 19

The present investigation consisted of carrying out an evaluation on the incidence of urban gardens for the food security of the families that live in the San Lorenzo neighborhood. This was validated through the quantitative method, observation techniques and surveys. Three phases were addressed: the first phase consisted of diagnosing the current situation of food security in the San Lorenzo neighborhood through the execution of surveys, during the second phase urban gardens were created, for which training was developed with the objective of providing the population involved with essential knowledge about techniques, care and importance of this type of orchard and during the third phase an analysis of the incidence of urban orchards for the food security of families in the San Lorenzo neighborhood was carried out, for this Surveys were carried out prior to the development of the orchards. Therefore, it was obtained as a result that there is a lack of knowledge about food security in the sector, adding to this, that few households knew about the importance of an urban garden and the benefits they provide. For this reason, it is concluded that the incidence of urban gardens increases the food security of neighborhood families by providing healthy food free of chemicals harmful to health, in addition to representing a low cost, bearing in mind the economic difficulties that are experienced currently due to the health emergency caused by COVID-19
