Summary:The objective of this research was to design a plan for the development of agritourism for the parish Membrillo in Canton Bolívar. For this purpose, it was developed a methodology which it was structured into five phases including situational diagnosis of parish Membrillo, developing strategies and objectives of the plan, the determination and specification of rural tourism programs and projects, the development of the timetable and assessment of the plan and projected costs and sources of funding. Bibliographic and descriptive methods were applied in developing the proposal. In the situational diagnostic of the area it was elaborated the characterization on level political, geographical, environmental, demographic, social, economic and tourist; the FODA analysis that was performed exposed the unawareness of the people about agritourism potential and how they don’t take advantage of the diversity and agricultural production of the area, combined with the lack of action plans that directly affect the development of Membrillo. As a result, were made a set of strategies, programs and projects to increase the development of agritourism at Membrillo, in the province of Manabí. Within the most important strategies are: use of natural and cultural resources through agro-tourism, environmental communication and education , development of economic alternatives, manage the support of government and nongovernmental organizations , improving services and basic infrastructure , innovation of new tourism products, distribution and marketing of rural tourism products.
