| Summary: | The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of acetic acid on the productive and health parameters in Cobb500 chickens. A completely randomized experimental design (CRD) was used, applying concentrations of artisanal acetic acid at 0.1% and industrial acetic acid at 0.1% administered in drinking water, with three treatments. The control treatment (T0) did not have acetic acid added to the drinking water, while treatment 1 (T1) had 0.1% artisanal acetic acid added to the drinking water, and treatment 2 (T2) had 0.1% industrial acetic acid added to the drinking water. The variables measured were final weight, accumulated feed consumption, accumulated feed conversion, and European efficiency index. Feed conversion showed significant differences, with T2 standing out at 2.02 kg. Additionally, T2 obtained the lowest mortality rate at 1.67% and the highest viability rate at 98.33%. In terms of health parameters, the addition of acetic acid did not alter or affect the hemogram results. The cost-benefit ratio was not significant, although the highest profit was obtained by T2 with 0.03 cents per dollar invested. It is concluded that the addition of acetic acid helps reduce the mortality rate and improves the viability of Cobb500 chickens. |
