Description
Summary:The objective of the study was to determine the interaction between hummingbirds and the flora present on the Campus of the ESPAM MFL. The type of research was descriptive using the methods, bibliographic-exploratory, field and deductive. The procedure included three phases including the establishment of the diversity and abundance of flora in three transects with a total area of 4000 m2: Agroindustrial, Agricultural and the Center for Agricultural Research, Innovation and Development (CIIDEA), applying the Shannon index to establish relative abundance being CIIDEA the only area that presented high diversity H´ = 3.03; One of the most important flora species visualized in this transect is the moyuyo (Cordea lutea), a native species which is pollinated by hummingbirds. Two species of hummingbirds were identified, the Costeño hummingbird (Amazilia amazilia), which was found in the three transects performed and the Jasper hummingbird (Adelomyia melanogenys) present only in the CIIDEA transect, the shape and size of these hummingbirds is Due to this, the same species of flora do not pollinate, the presence of hummingbirds is affected by anthropogenic activities, especially in the Agroindustrial area, due to the felling and burning of trees, due to this, a guide to identification and conservation of hummingbirds was carried out. same that was socialized to the workers of the ESPFL MFL to raise awareness about the effects caused by the use of pesticides, burning and felling of trees in the life cycle of these species.
