| description | SUMMARY One of the causes of death of the birds in the modern poultry is given by the incidence of Salmonella spp. The research was conducted at the farm site Bolívar Canton Syria Mocochal in the period from June to August 2012. It aimed to determine the presence of Salmonella spp. in water, food and eggs for human consumption, identify the types and subtypes of Salmonella spp and propose a strategy in handling biomedical laying hen farm. We evaluated two lots of 13,000 birds each 18 months of age and egg production. Samples of organs (liver, spleen, ovary, heart), water and food. For the identification of pathogens was used API 20-E. The results did not show the presence of Salmonella spp. in the organs tested, or in water or food, is achieved nevertheless identify the presence of the following pathogens: Proteus mirabilis, P. penneri, Enterobactercloacae organs and E.coli in liver and spleen. We proposed a biosecurity plan in handling farm type layers. |

We proposed a biosecurity plan in handling farm type layers.RESUMEN Una de las causas de muerte de las aves en la avicultura moderna esta dada por la incidencia de la Salmonellas spp. La investigación se realizo en la granja Siria del Cantón Bolívar sitio Mocochal en el periodo de Junio a Agosto del 2012. La misma tuvo como objetivos determinar la presencia de Salmonellas spp. en agua, alimentos y huevos de consumo humano, identificar los tipos y subtipos de Salmonellas spp y proponer una estrategia biosanitaria en el manejo de granja de gallinas ponedoras. Se evaluaron dos lotes de 13.000 aves cada uno de 18 meses de edad y en producción de huevo. Se tomaron muestras de órganos (hígado, bazo, ovario, corazón), agua y alimento. Para la identificación de los patógenos se utilizó el API 20-E. Los resultados obtenidos no muestran presencia de Salmonella spp. en los órganos evaluados , ni en agua ni en el alimento, sin embargo se logra identificar la presencia de los siguientes microorganismos patógenos: Proteus mirabilis, P. penneri, Enterobactercloacae y E.coli en los órganos hígado y bazo.
