| الملخص: | In order to analyze changes in bovine reproductive variables in dairy herds as a consequence of the COVID -19 pandemic, an investigation was carried out in the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, costa Region, Ecuador. To collect the information, a structured interview was used with 86 producers belonging to the Producers Association. The results were tabulated and analyzed through descriptive statistics. and its distribution was compared through Chi square and likelihood ratio tests. Milk production was compared with Student t test for paired samples. It was found that the producers have a high level of education, with 20 years of livestock experience, and attend the production unit with 2 or 3 family members and 2 to 4 contracted workers. 46% of the producers were infected by COVID-19 and more than 70% of them have had at least one family member and one worker infected. The COVID-19 pandemic forced producers to modify their work plan in the sanitary management of dairy cattle, particularly immunization plans and deworming strategies. The proportion of natural mounts increased by 36%, in the detriment of artificial insemination. There was a decrease in milk production from 8.3 to 8.0 Lt. cow-1; associated with the lack of inputs, transportation, as well as labor limitations in the production units. |
