Shrnutí:The objective of this thesis was to evaluate the levels of mercury in fish Oreochromis Niloticus (tilapia) of the reservoir La Esperanza in the Bolívar canton of Manabí. In this research, five sampling stations were established, located at the mouth of the Carrizal, Bejuco, Caña, Membrillo and a center point in the reservoir, where fish samples were taken in each georeferenced place, during the months of August and October. This research is of a non-experimental quantitative type and analyzes were carried out using the atomic absorption method carried out in the environmental laboratory of the ESPE (Polytechnical Superior School of The Army), where general averages (10 specimens) were obtained by mercury concentration of 0.283 ppm in the month of August and 0.357 ppm in the month of October; morphological characteristics were established that help to deduce that the higher weight and length of the fish the mercury level increases. The results obtained in this investigation did not exceed the permissible limits of mercury in fish as established by the European Union (EU); This allowed us to conclude that there is mercury concentration in the Oreochromis Niloticus fish of the reservoir in a global average of 0.307 ppm, which does not exceed the permissible limit (0.5 ppm).
