Description
Summary:The objective of this research was to evaluate the environmental impact of paper waste management in the Environment career of Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí “Manuel Félix López”. Qualitative and quantitative methods were used, with application of interview techniques, check list, Leopold matrix and findings of conformities. Twenty-six waste paper generation points were identified, due to the daily activities carried out, with an average of 2.59 kg / day of paper and a production per box of 0.0052 kg / day, with an average density of 155.31 kg / m 3; On paper types highlighted the role of printing with 72.64% of the six paper types found in the characterization. In relation to the evaluation of the management of paper waste, it was determined that the mayor of affected occurs in the activities of generation and storage of waste, both valued at -6; The total of the environmental components evaluated resulted in 17%, the rating corresponds to a low in the environment. The conformity assessment determined that the absence of personal protective equipment is a major nonconformity, since it breaches the environmental quality standard in force in the Texto Unificado de Legislación Secundaria Medio Ambiental (TULSMA). Management plans were developed, which contribute to the environmental awareness of the personnel who generate the waste.
