Summary: | The propagation of plantain in a thermal chamber is an alternative, economical and effective technology to produce quality seedlings. The objective of the work was to evaluate the influence of the corm size, Benzylaminopurine and the type of plastic on the multiplication rate of the banana in a thermal chamber. The research was developed during the dry season of 2020, at the CIIDEA research center of ESPAM MFL. Two separate experiments were performed. In the first, six sizes of corm were evaluated depending on the height of the sucker (0.5 m, 1.0 m, 1.5 m, 2.0 m, harvested mother corms and chives) and two colors of plastic as a cover for the thermal camera (black and transparent). In the second experiment, the effect of benzylaminopurineBAP (with BAP and without BAP) and two colors of plastic as cover of the thermal camera (black and transparent color) were tested. In both trials, a completely randomized design with an A x B factorial arrangement was used. The variables recorded were days to sprouting and multiplication rate per corm and m2 of thermal camera. The results showed that the black plastic color was effective to reduce the sprouting time of the corms, but not to increase the multiplication rate in relation to the transparent plastic. The harvested mother corms reached the highest individual multiplication rate with 35 seedlings. Chives achieved the highest multiplication rate per m2 of thermal camera with 443 seedlings. Finally, the BAP treatment produced the highest multiplication rate per corm and m2 with 29 and 398 seedlings, respectively. |
