Descripció
Sumari:The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH-Folltropin®) on in vitro embryo production in cattle. For its determination, a Cross Over experimental design was deployed, in which 25 cyclic cows of zebu breeds were treated, with an average weight of 350 kg, body condition of 3 to 3.5 and an average age of 36 to 50 months, which went through both experimental groups (with and without treatment), in addition, the parameters of the study variables were determined by means of generalized linear mixed models, with a significance level of 5%. The results show that the administration of FSH was significantly superior (p<0.0001) to the control treatment, presenting greater quantities of stimulated follicles, viable oocytes and transferable embryos. In addition, the group of cows treated with FSH showed a better profitability through the cost/benefit ratio, since the income from the production of embryos considerably exceeded the costs associated with the experimentation. According to the results obtained, it can be observed that the implementation of FSH for ovarian stimulation presents significant and financially profitable results, so it is suggested to consider the use of this protocol to optimize the results in bovine reproduction programs.
