Achoimre:The purpose of this study is to evaluate the addition of the essential oil of oregano (Origanum vulgare) and its effects on hematological and biochemical parameters in Cobb 500 broilers. This research was carried out at the facilities of the teaching unit, Research and linking Pastures and Forages of the Veterinary Medicine career, at the Escuela Superior Politécnica Agropecuaria de Manabí Manuel Félix López (ESPAM-MFL). A Completely Randomized design with bifactorial arrangement was applied, which included the effect of oregano essential oil in 3 doses (100-200 and 300 ppm) plus two control levels; one with growth-promoting antibiotic (T0) and another group with commercial oregano (Oregano - STIM) (T01) which were divided by sex (males and females), for a total of 10 treatments. Treatment with 300 ppm of Oregano Essential Oil achieved the best performance of the hematological variables responsible for the oxygenation of all the cells of the body for their correct functioning, including Erythrocytes, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit, and important performance for the biochemical variable such as creatinine. Supplementation with commercial oregano obtained the best performance for male chickens in the variables Erythrocytes, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit, the thymus directly influences the immunology of chickens due to the maturation of T lymphocytes that are produced in it, those that are responsible for cellular immunity.
