总结:The objective of the research was to evaluate the influence of the odors emitted by the oxidation ponds of the Manta canton on the psychosocial well-being of the "Los Gavilanes" neighborhood. Bibliographic, analytical and statistical methods, technological tools and social techniques were used. The study consisted of three stages: 1) diagnosis, based on data on wind direction, water quality, odor perception and characterization, 2) determination of psychosocial well-being using the PWB model and 3) participatory design of measures for local odor management. The results showed that there is a prevalence of SW wind and that the existing bibliographic information on lagoon water quality is scarce to determine the odor composition. The majority of participants (34.44-45.70%) indicated that they were almost always aware of odorous situations. In terms of social self-perception, smell is the most important sense (44.4%), local odors are extremely annoying (57%) and stress is the main discomfort. Psychosocial well-being in Los Gavilanes is medium (37.09-47.68%), finding a significant relationship with the odors of the oxidation pond system (p<0.05), especially for the dimensions: autonomy, mastery of the environment and self-acceptance. Seventeen odor management measures were proposed with the support of GADs, Ministries, NGOs, Academia and Inhabitants. It is concluded that odors from oxidation ponds influence some dimensions of psychosocial well-being in Los Gavilanes.
