Summary: | The objective of the research was to evaluate the influence of the quality of water for human consumption on the health of the population of Citadel "La Filomena" in the cantonal capital of Jama, province of Manabí, where the established prevalence equation was used to determine the diseases related to water consumption, with dry skin being the most prominent with a prevalence value of 0.8. Thirty-seven households were surveyed to determine the condition and functioning of the water distribution network, and found that 92% of them had potable water and 95% rated the water quality as good. Sampling was conducted at three strategic points, these were the house closest to the distribution network, a central house in the study area and a house at the farthest point of the same, to then be evaluated and compared between the parameters of the Ecuadorian Technical Standard of the Ecuadorian Institute of Standardization (NTE INEN 1108:2014) and the Mexican Standard (NOM-127-SSA1-1994). The physical-chemical and microbiological analyses determined that the samples taken were within the permissible limits established in the aforementioned standards. Finally, a set of strategies was proposed for the GAD to implement in the drinking water services received by the population, to mitigate the problems faced by the GAD, in the provision of this vital liquid, for the management of this resource as an autonomous administration of resources. |
